Here's my rating of the Nikon Coolpix 5000: (5 megapixel prosumer)

High resolution; extensive feature set; compact design and comfortable ergonomics; fold-out-and-swivel LCD; compatible with IBM Microdrives.

A few important controls are buried; lens not as powerful as competitors'; noticeable chromatic aberration and JPEG artifacts in images.

Some may not like this camera's menu-driven operation or modest lens, but it offers an extensive feature set and flexible design.

Still modest footprint, reasonably fast scans (though slowed with ICE and other options), superb results when set correctly, USB 2.0 universality.

Supplied software is still a bit awkward, ICE doesn't work perfectly, takes some time to find optimal setup.
