The Sony Xperia 1 is a solid improvement on most of Sony’s recent smartphones – it has a few mis-steps and annoyances, but it’ll be of particularly interest to movie buffs or budding film-makers.

Instead, I’m just bummed. The Xperia 1 is a really nice phone, the kind that makes you think maybe Sony shouldn’t lower its ambitions in mobile. But for $950, I expect more. You should, too.
